Our adoption case has now officially entered the court process!
We met with ICBF, who is the governing agency that allows our adoption to enter the courts for adoption finalization. As of this morning, our case is in Court #15. We do not know what that means, but were told that it is a "normal " court, regarding the amount of time that it takes to finalize the adoption. So now we will just wait for the process to flow through the courts. If anyone reading this that has adopted from Colombia, knows anything about Court #15, please let us know. As everyone else here, we are hoping it moves quickly.
We also heard this morning, that the judges started to "Strike" this morning, regarding their salaries. We are hoping that this strike is only going to last a couple days, and are not sure if all courts are affected by this. We will have to wait and see.
After this Friday, we are allowed to travel outside of Bogota. We are most likely going to travel to Buccaramunga, where Jose lives. We are anxious for a change of scenery.
Tonight- Wednesday- we made our first trip to Crepes and Waffles. I know many of you previous travelers to Bogota, are amazed that we have been here 3 weeks, and had not yet made a trip to Crepes and Waffles. However, eating out is complicated with a 3 and 5 year old. This was really only the 4th time that we have eaten outside of the hotel. It is just more convenient, and routine for the boys, to eat at the hotel. The food and ice cream were fabulous! I would say this has been the best food that we have had here thus far. Thanks to all of you for encouraging us to eat at this great place!
Joyce is feeling better, and is really hoping the rest of the family does not get whatever it was that she had.
We thank all of you for your continued support, and please continue your prayers, that we move quickly through the court process, and can return to the U.S.

You have been busy! Happy to hear that your meeting with the Defender went well. It's always a good feeling to know that your case has entered a court! We have not had court 15, but it seems as though, with the exception of one or two courts, they take between 5-6 weeks. We had a "normal" court the first time around as well, and were there for 5 1/2 weeks. Of course, this is Colombia, and we all know how "time" is there, so it could be longer or shorter! Just remember that no matter what the time frame, you are all together and you will never have concentrated family time like this ever again. And getting to know the boys and the beautiful country they are from, is well worth the time it takes in the courts.
We are leaving on an Alaskan cruise tomorrow morning, so will look forward to seeing all that next week brings you when we come back. You are doing a great job with Diego and Jeferson!! Happy to hear you got to enjoy yummy Crepes and Waffles as well. (We can totally relate with not wanting to venture too many times into a restraunt with two busy boys :-)).

Go Crepes & Waffles! Jodi Mongoven and I think we should start up that chain in MN! I believe they do have one in Miami but no others in the US. I am telling you, it could be a gold mine and a great way to support this adoption addiction we seem to have developed! Can't get enough of those Colombian cuties! :0)
Patsy is right about the courts. It will be what it will be! Some say the higher numbers are slower, some say the opposite but the great thing is that your papers are in and hopefully this strike will be over soon!
Are you making plans to head to a market on Sunday? It's a great time so just ask for directions to La Fontana hotel and the market behind Hacienda Santa Barbara (sorry I can't remember the proper name for that market). I think the boys would enjoy it too.
Sounds like a great plan to head out of Bogota and visit your friends! It's a nice break from the rat race of BIG city life and it makes your time in the courts go a little faster too!

I concur with my other Colombian junkies, don't listen to what anyone else has to say about your court...you could both be in the same court and have two different response times, too many things that happen in "Colombian time". It is HARD to do but don't focus on the how long, once you are home, you will regret not enjoying the time you had there. My longest trip was almost eight weeks and looking back on it, it was ny "Best" trip as far as ALL the people and friends we made!

Sounds like you have been very busy and keeping the boys busy as well. The kids have gone back to school here too. Yes, I agree that does sound strange praying in the PUBLIC school and then before each class. I think we can all learn something from a "moment of silence and reflection".
